Award-winning singer Davido recently took to social media to honor the memory of his late friend DJ Olu on what would have been his posthumous birthday.

In a heartfelt and melancholic post, Davido offered a prayer, asking DJ Olu to continue watching over them and expressing that the plans they made together during DJ Olu’s lifetime are now coming to fruition.

In his brief but touching tribute, Davido highlighted the deep bond he shared with DJ Olu, reflecting on the friendship they had built over the years. “Keep watching over us,” Davido wrote, adding that their dreams and plans are gradually materializing, even in DJ Olu’s absence.

DJ Olu, who was known as Davido’s official disc jockey, tragically passed away in 2017 under mysterious circumstances. He was found dead in his car alongside his friend Chime Amaechi, a discovery that sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and raised numerous questions.

Despite the public’s curiosity, DJ Olu’s family requested privacy to mourn their loss without the glare of media speculation. The cause of his death remains a sensitive topic, with the family choosing to grieve in private.

During his lifetime, DJ Olu was celebrated as one of the most talented and in-demand disc jockeys in the Nigerian music scene. His skills were on full display during a legendary performance in Lagos, where he kept a club vibrant from night until dawn, showcasing his remarkable ability to energize a crowd.

From 2011 until his untimely demise in 2017, DJ Olu served as the official DJ for Davido’s record label, DMW (Davido Music Worldwide). Their relationship went beyond professional collaboration; the two were inseparable, often seen together celebrating each other’s successes and enjoying life.

DJ Olu’s death had a profound impact on Davido. The singer was deeply affected, leading him to cancel his scheduled performance at Felabration in 2017—a significant event in his career at that time. The cancellation underscored the depth of his grief and the strong bond he shared with DJ Olu.

However, in the wake of DJ Olu’s death, Davido faced unfounded rumors that he was somehow involved in the tragic incident. Choosing not to respond publicly to these accusations, Davido allowed the rumors to subside on their own, focusing instead on mourning his friend in peace.
