Nigerian music icon Davido recently addressed comments made by actress Sarah Martins regarding his alleged new restaurant.
The Nollywood actress had taken to Instagram to suggest that the superstar should have opened the restaurant in his wife Chioma’s name, citing Chioma’s reputation as an exceptional chef. However, Davido clarified the situation, stating that no restaurant had been opened and that the “5ive Star Food” project was part of a campaign for his album.
In his response, Davido bluntly corrected Sarah’s misconception:
“U just open ur mouth, wah. I didn’t open any restaurant. It was a campaign with a food court for my album.”
Following Davido’s clarification, Sarah Martins issued a public apology, admitting that her comments were based on misinformation. According to her, she was misled by a food blogger’s post.
Taking responsibility for the misunderstanding, Sarah addressed her apology to Davido on Instagram:
“The king himself, the crown of my sis Chioma, the apple of our eyes (30BGs), pls I’m truly sorry if you felt disrespected. Na @opeyemifamakin cause am. I was misinformed by his post.”
In addition to her apology, the actress made a bold request, asking Davido to promote her YouTube channel and movie.
Sarah Martins emphasized that her initial post was not intended as hate, highlighting her admiration for Davido and Chioma. She has previously supported the couple, including defending them against critics such as investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo.
While some viewed her comments as misplaced admiration, others speculated whether her apology and promotional request were strategic moves for publicity.
