Nigerian music star, Davido, has seemingly reconciled with Amaju Pinnick, the former president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), following a public fallout over a breach of contract.
The two were seen enjoying a fun moment at the beach in a video shared by Davido on his Instagram story, where they were seen quad-biking together with Kayode Yajuar and another individual.
The resolution of their past conflict has sparked reactions from fans, many of whom were pleased to see them put their differences behind them. Some social media users expressed their relief at the end of their rift, with one user commenting,
Rich people no dey fight,” and another noting, “More love, less ego.”
This public reconciliation follows a turbulent period in 2023, when Pinnick publicly accused Davido of failing to honor his contract. The former NFF president claimed that after paying the music star a significant sum and arranging a private jet for his crew, Davido didn’t fulfill his obligations. Pinnick also compared Davido to his rival, Burna Boy, highlighting his higher stature.
In response, Davido fired back, warning Pinnick not to “throw a stone at a glass house” and boasting that no one could stop him from headlining events. His logistics manager, Israel DMW, also defended Davido, demanding that Pinnick tell the full truth.
The dispute took a legal turn when Pinnick filed a lawsuit seeking N2.3 billion in damages, along with an injunction to prevent Davido from performing in Nigeria until he refunded the money. However, the situation took a positive turn when the singer later apologized to his fans in Warri, explaining his absence, and agreed to pay N30 million to settle the case.
In a separate post, Davido shared a heartwarming story about a producer and writer he worked with on his Timeless album. The producer, who recently received his publishing check, visited Davido at home and handed him $20,000, thanking him for his support. Davido expressed how good it felt to be appreciated, writing:
“A certain producer/writer I started working with from Timeless. Finally, he got his publishing check, came to my house, handed me 20 thousand dollars, and said Baba, I thank you. Happy to see there are still good people in this world! Being appreciated sure feels good! Love you, brother!”
Davido’s humility and resilience have been praised by many, including veteran actor Patrick Doyle. Doyle lauded the music star for remaining calm and avoiding conflicts despite the barrage of attacks from his colleagues. He attributed this admirable behavior to Davido’s upbringing, emphasizing that the singer’s ability to remain unaffected by criticism was a trait inherited from his father.
Similarly, actress Shan George shared her admiration for Davido, citing three reasons why she remains a die-hard fan. She noted that her love for the artist has only grown stronger over the years.
In other news, Davido sparked controversy during a foreign interview when he warned black Americans against relocating to Africa. He criticized the current state of the African economy, stating that it wasn’t as appealing as many might think. His comments were met with backlash from figures like Reno Omokri, Patrick Doyle, and Akashat Nymat, who criticized his statements. Despite the backlash, Davido clarified that he wasn’t speaking negatively about Africa, but rather trying to present a realistic view of life on the continent.
