DJ Cuppy, daughter of business mogul Femi Otedola, recently went makeup-free on Snapchat, posting a simple photo of herself. However, a troll attempted to shame her looks by commenting, “She no know sey she don old.”
Unbothered, Cuppy quickly fired back, proudly embracing her age. “32 never looked so good,” she replied.
Her confident response drew massive support from fans, with many praising her beauty and maturity. One user wrote, “32 is old now? I thought life begins at 40?” while another added, “Una dey talk o, she is beautiful and lit.” Others urged trolls to let people live their lives in peace.
Cuppy isn’t the only celebrity to face age-shaming. Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji once told off a troll who reminded her she couldn’t cheat nature, bluntly noting that if she’s lucky, she would grow old and eventually die. Similarly, Toke Makinwa has also addressed the issue, questioning why ageing — a natural process — is being used as an insult.
Meanwhile, DJ Cuppy has been in the news for lighter reasons. Recently, she amused fans after admitting she still calls her mother to ask how long to boil rice. She also reflected on her privileged upbringing, stating that what once felt normal to her is something others pray for, a realization that has made her more grateful for her lifestyle.
