Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faces a significant injury setback as he revealed that both Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey will be unavailable for the upcoming Premier League match against Sheffield United.
Gabriel Jesus, who was substituted during the recent Champions League victory over Sevilla, complained of hamstring discomfort and was subsequently diagnosed with a muscle injury. Arteta expressed concern that Jesus might remain sidelined for several weeks, raising the possibility of his absence until the next international break in November.
Arteta shared, “The scans show that there is a muscle injury. We might miss him for a few weeks again. With Gabi, I cannot give you any time frame because he always surprises us.”
Thomas Partey, who had picked up a thigh injury in training ahead of the Sevilla game, is also expected to spend the next few weeks recovering. Arteta emphasized that the injury was unrelated to Partey’s international duty with Ghana and attributed it to the player’s need for minutes after a period of absence.
With both players joining the injury list, Arsenal will have to navigate upcoming matches without their services, including fixtures against Sheffield, Newcastle United, Burnley, West Ham in the Carabao Cup, and the Champions League encounter against Sevilla.
