President Bola Tinubu has encouraged Muslims all around Nigeria to pray for the country, saying that it is at a critical time as his administration takes “all necessary measures to make the country secure and economically viable.”

In a statement headlined “Eid-El-Maulud: Imbibe the virtues of Prophet Muhammad, Tinubu urges Muslims,” signed on Tuesday, by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu made the request that “We need the full support of the citizenry in the form of patriotism, patience, and prayers.”

Tinubu greeted Muslims in Nigeria and abroad on this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration and urged them to follow the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, saying that there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel.

He noted that the period should be devoted to serious contemplation and intense prayers, in addition to commemorating the Holy Prophet’s birthday.

The President stated:

“Adherents should make deliberate efforts to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

“There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet.”

He asked religious leaders to use the opportunity to pray for the country and to encourage their followers to draw suitable lessons from Prophet Muhammad’s life in their dedication to the country.

President Tinubu also advised Muslims celebrating the Maulud holiday to give a helping hand to the poor and vulnerable in the spirit of the season, while praying for the country and its leaders at all levels.
