Nollywood actress and producer Eniola Ajao is overjoyed as her 2024 movie, Beast of Two Worlds, secures a nomination at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
On Sunday, March 23, the AMVCA organisers unveiled nominees for the highly anticipated annual awards, which recognize excellence across film, television, and digital content for works released between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
Eniola’s Beast of Two Worlds earned a nomination in the Best Sound/Sound Design category, competing against notable projects like Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi and Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors.
Taking to Instagram Stories, the actress expressed excitement and gratitude for the recognition, calling the nomination a significant milestone in her career.
AMVCA nomination for Beast of Two Worlds is a big deal to me!! I’m happy my work got recognition. This is just the beginning,” she wrote.
As the actress teases her second cinema movie, she assured fans that more groundbreaking projects are on the way.
Eniola Ajao has shown resilience in her filmmaking journey, despite a challenging year in 2023. Her debut cinema movie was surrounded by controversy after she declared Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky as the Best Dressed Female at the premiere, sparking backlash from fans and critics.
In an interview with Arise News TV, Ajao admitted that the decision was a calculated marketing strategy, leveraging Bobrisky’s controversial persona to generate publicity for her film. However, she later made amends by awarding two other attendees, Bose Alao and another guest, as Best Dressed Female, gifting them ₦1 million each.
With Beast of Two Worlds receiving critical acclaim and an AMVCA nomination, Eniola Ajao continues to solidify her presence as a filmmaker to watch in Nollywood. Fans eagerly await her next cinema project, set to premiere later this year.
