Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus joined in celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day with heartfelt reflections.
On her Instagram page, the movie star shared photos taken at the Nigerian Embassy in the UK. She revealed that the setting reminded her that no matter where Nigerians find themselves, they always carry the nation within them.
Badmus expressed that each time she sees the Nigerian flag wave — whether in Lagos or London — it awakens something powerful in her. According to her, the green and white banner is more than just colours; it represents the story of a people who fought for freedom, overcame challenges, and continue to move forward with resilience, hope, and pride.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey, she emphasized that the nation’s future rests on unity, courage, and the unshakable Nigerian spirit.
Whether at home or abroad, the Nigerian spirit lives in us. Shooting this picture at the Nigerian Embassy in the UK reminded me that no matter where we find ourselves, we carry Nigeria with us. Every time I see our flag wave – whether in Lagos or London, it stirs something deep within me. It’s more than colours, it’s the story of a people who fought for freedom, overcame trials, and continue to ride with resilience, hope, and pride.
Today, as we celebrate our independence, I reflect on how far we’ve come and the brighter future that lies ahead. A future built on unity, courage, and the unshakable Nigerian spirit. Happy Independence Day to our beloved country, Nigeria. Happy 65th Independence Day,” she wrote.
This patriotic moment comes weeks after Badmus faced criticism over photos of herself allegedly speaking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Social media users had accused her of misrepresentation, pointing out that her photos were taken at the Nigerian Embassy.
Clarifying the matter, Badmus revealed she had actually been invited as a special guest to the UNGABO Side Event Series in New York. She described the experience as a milestone shaping her career, expanding her network, and opening global opportunities.
In May last year, following her open support for President Tinubu, Badmus was appointed Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Social Events and Public Hearing. Grateful for the role, she expressed honour at the chance to serve under the Speaker’s leadership.
By July, she officially resumed her duties and was seen with senators during a meeting with Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) in Abuja.
Earlier this year, Badmus also shared an inspiring message with Nigerians, urging them to embrace unity, pride, and purpose, reminding them that the power to shape the nation’s future lies in their own hands.
