Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has publicly addressed her fallout with Funke Akindele, accusing her colleague of blocking her on Instagram.
Reports emerged earlier that the former friends had unfollowed each other on the social media platform, leaving fans and followers surprised. Sources claim the tension began when Faithia skipped Funke’s movie premiere but attended Mercy Aigbe’s event instead. Allegedly, this was in response to Funke’s absence at Faithia’s father’s burial despite being invited.
Taking to her TikTok page, Faithia Williams called out Funke Akindele, emphasizing that she is unbothered by the alleged block. In her video, Faithia took subtle jabs at Funke, making it clear that she does not view her colleague as all-powerful.
Faithia said:
You are not my God. I am not moved by your petty actions. Life goes on.”
The video has since sparked conversations online, with fans weighing in on the ongoing drama between the two actresses.
Their fallout comes as a surprise to many, especially since Faithia was one of Funke’s strongest supporters last year. She actively promoted Funke’s movie, A Tribe Called Judah, creating multiple pieces of content to help market the film.
This is not the first time Funke Akindele has faced tensions with her Nollywood colleagues. She previously had a years-long feud with Iyabo Ojo after Iyabo publicly defended Toyin Abraham during an online spat involving a blogger’s criticism of Toyin’s movie, The Ghost and The Tout. However, the two actresses reconciled in 2022, sharing a heartwarming moment at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Similarly, Funke and Toyin Abraham have had their share of rivalry as they both dominate the Nollywood box office. Despite years of tension, they reconciled last year when Toyin celebrated Funke’s birthday and attended her movie premiere.
Funke Akindele has also faced accusations of attempting to sideline colleagues in the industry. An alleged report claimed that Funke pressured media mogul Mo Abudu to replace Toyin Abraham with Kate Henshaw in Chief Daddy. Another report suggested she tried to have Beverly Osu removed from a movie, only to be stopped by veteran actress Joke Silva.
These reports highlight the challenges of navigating relationships and professional rivalries in Nollywood’s competitive industry.
The recent fallout between Faithia Williams and Funke Akindele adds to the ongoing narrative of tensions among Nollywood’s top stars. Fans continue to speculate about the reasons behind these conflicts, but for now, it seems both actresses are standing their ground.
