Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, has sanctioned N30.9 billion for enormous school repair projects in the federal capital.

Dr. Danlami Hayyo, Mandate Secretary, Education Secretariat, FCT Administration, announced this at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

Hayyo believes the gift demonstrates the minister’s commitment to the education sector.

He stated that N13.3 billion has been allocated from the budget for the reconstruction and refurbishment of 40 schools, which would be finished within 100 days.

According to the mandate secretary, N13.1 billion was also set aside for a faster whole-school rehabilitation strategy, which would commence with 18 schools.

Hayyo stated that the school restoration method was intended to repair the complete school infrastructure and facilities, including restrooms, dorms, eating areas, and the provision of furniture and water.

He said that four schools would be rehabilitated in the second batch of the whole-school rehabilitation method at a cost of N4.5 billion.

He mentioned the following schools: Government Science Technical College, Kwali; Government Science Technical College, Maitama; Government Secondary School, Kuje; and Government Secondary School, Wuse II.

According to him, the projects are slated to be finished by May 2024, and would be part of the initiative commissioned by President Bola Tunu to commemorate his one-year in office.
