Nollywood star Funke Akindele and her siblings, Olubunmi and Poga Akindele, have shared heartfelt tributes on social media to commemorate the second anniversary of their mother’s passing.
Their mother passed away on February 7, 2023, and the family announced the news on Instagram, submitting to God’s will. Since then, the siblings have continued to honor her memory with poignant reflections and expressions of gratitude.
In a touching Instagram post, Funke Akindele expressed how her mother’s passing still feels surreal. She wrote about the depth of her loss and prayed for her mother’s continued peace.
Mum, it’s been two years since you left us. It’s still like a dream, my darling mother. I miss you so much!! Keep resting in peace,” Funke shared.
Olubunmi Akindele reflected on their mother’s resilience, recalling how she overcame the loss of her own parent at a young age and raised her children with wisdom and strength. Her emotional tribute highlighted the enduring impact of their mother’s love.
“Two Years Without You, Mom… But Forever Grateful. It still hurts, and YES, I cry sometimes. But through the pain, gratitude shines brighter. You lost your own mother at 13, yet God gave you the strength to raise US with love, wisdom, and sacrifice. May your legacy of love, strength, and kindness continue to live through US and generations to come in Jesus’ mighty name. Keep resting in grace, Mom. Love YOU till eternity,” Olubunmi wrote.
For Poga Akindele, the loss remains a challenge, but he finds comfort in the belief that their mother is happy in the afterlife.
Two years without you haven’t been easy, but I know you’re happy up there. I miss you so much, Mum,” he shared.
