Nollywood actress and box office queen Funke Akindele has recently shared her heartfelt appreciation for the 175 crew members who contributed to her latest project, Everybody Loves Jenifa.
Taking to Instagram, Funke Akindele posted a photo of the hardworking crew who spent nine weeks bringing the highly anticipated movie to life. Highlighting that the project was self-funded, she expressed her pride in empowering a team predominantly made up of young talents. Akindele’s post reads:
Proud moment! I want to celebrate the incredible 175 crew members who worked tirelessly for nine weeks to bring Everybody Loves Jenifa to life! As a self-funded project, I’m honoured to have empowered a team of talented individuals, with 95% of them being young people, to showcase their skills.
Special shoutout to our Nigerian and Ghanaian crew members who collaborated seamlessly to make this happen. I believe in empowering the next generation and giving them opportunities to shine. And shine they did! Get ready for the movie’s release in December!”
In August, Funke Akindele garnered additional praise for her collaboration with the Lagos State Fire Service on the upcoming film. This partnership was highlighted by Jubril Giwa, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, on his X page.
Earlier this year, Funke Akindele made headlines as the first Nigerian filmmaker to surpass a billion naira in box office sales. Her latest film, A Tr!be Called Judah, grossed over N1.4 billion, adding to her legacy of high-grossing Nollywood films such as Battle On Buka Street and Omo Ghetto The Saga.
During Dbanj’s anniversary dinner in June, Funke Akindele reflected on the inspiration she received from the singer. She shared that Dbanj’s encouragement was pivotal in maintaining the Jenifa brand and that he had supported her financially for her next project.
