According to reports, Akindele’s latest movie, “Battle on Buka Street,” surpassed the box office record set by her 2020 film, “Omo Ghetto: The Saga.” “Battle on Buka Street” earned 640 million naira, surpassing the 636 million naira earned by “Omo Ghetto: The Saga.” Film One, in an Instagram post, mentioned that Akindele’s only competition seemed to be herself.
Additionally, Funke Akindele achieved a landmark in Nollywood projects, surpassing her colleague Toyin Abraham. According to a chart by Top Charts, Akindele’s movies generated over one billion naira (N1.33bn), while Abraham’s movies earned 564 million naira. This significant difference in earnings solidifies Akindele’s position as the highest-grossing actress in the Nigerian film industry. Her movie, “Battle on Buka Street,” alone grossed over 640 million naira.
