Yoruba Nollywood actress Habibat Jinad has taken fans down memory lane as she shared her beautiful love story with her husband.
On Instagram, the actress posted throwback photos of herself and her husband, recounting how their journey began. She revealed that from the very first day they met, her husband, fondly called Daddy Okiki, wouldn’t give her space.
According to her, he persistently followed her everywhere, making his feelings obvious to everyone. To prove his seriousness, he even hired a photographer to take their pictures together and later sent them to her.
Habibat said that after thoroughly vetting him, she agreed to give their relationship a chance. She recalled how he jokingly told her, “I’ll marry you, and you’ll bear my children.” At the time, she found it amusing because she was battling fertility challenges and never imagined the words would come true.
“Looking at this picture, memories flood my mind of when Daddy Okiki first spotted me. I thought, ‘Who’s this guy, and why won’t he give me space?’ He’d follow me everywhere until it became obvious to everyone. He even hired a photographer to take these pictures and sent them to me. As you can see the big smile on his face.
After he asked me out, I thoroughly vetted him before agreeing. He jokingly predicted, ‘I’ll marry you, and you’ll bear my children.’ I didn’t take the marriage part seriously, but the baby part seemed laughable given my struggles with conceiving.”
Her post ended with a suspenseful “To be continued,” leaving fans anticipating the rest of the story.
In 2023, Habibat welcomed her second child after waiting for 17 years, a testimony she described as nothing short of miraculous. The actress, overwhelmed with gratitude, promised to one day share the full details of her journey.
Her colleagues also stood by her during the joyous season. Actress Biodun Okeowo surprised her with a ram during her son’s naming ceremony, a gesture that left Jinad emotional and thankful.
The actress has also been candid about her struggles in the industry. She once revealed how actress Mide Martins made hurtful comments about her skin tone on a movie set, which pushed her to consider bleaching.
Additionally, she had a public spat with colleague Yetunde Bakare after accusing her of badmouthing her to others. Jinad pleaded with her at the time to let her live in peace for the sake of her son.
