Grammy-award-winning British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has hinted at quitting music. The ‘Shape of You’ crooner standing copyright infringement trial at Manhattan Federal Court, United States, said he would quit making music if found guilty of ripping off Marvin Gaye’s soul classic ‘Let’s Get It On’.

Gaye’s co-writer, Ed Townsend’s heirs, accused Ed Sheeran of lifting a four-chord progression from the 1973 soul classic in his hit song ‘Thinking Out Loud’. They are seeking a whopping $100 million in restitution.

However,  Sheeran vehemently denied the claims, saying it’s “insulting”.

When asked by his lawyer Ilene Farkas about the toll the trial takes on him, Ed  said

“If that happens [that I’m found guilty], I’m done, I’m stopping.”

“I find it really insulting to devote my whole life to being a performer and a songwriter and have someone diminish it.”
