Nigerian fighter, Israel Adesanya, has reclaimed his middleweight crown with a huge knockout win over Alex Pereira. Back-to-back right hands sent the Brazilian down to the canvas and Adesanya left nothing to chance, as he pounced upon his rival and unleashed some hammer fists.
Adesanya lost his title to Pereira five months ago. The pair had been in kickboxing, with the Brazillian knocking out the Nigerian-New Zealander across two kickboxing bouts before the pair transitioned to MMA.
In his first middleweight title defence, Pereira was tasked with once again defeating the man he has thwarted thrice before.
The knockout came from nowhere as Pereira was initially on the offence. The Brazilian was unleashing body hooks and a knee to the ribs, with Adesanya backed against the cage, when the challenger threw a right hook out of nowhere.
It froze Pereira, so similar to the end of the first round in their last fight, but this time there was no buzzer to save him. The next punch dropped him, and he was out cold after the fist.
After seven years in which they have fought four times, ‘The Last Stylebender’ finally gets his win over Pereira.
