Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, claimed that his team’s 4-1 victory over Arsenal on Wednesday night had given them control over their title fate. On Wednesday night at the Etihad, the Premier League champions crushed Mikel Arteta’s team.
First-half goals from John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne gave City the advantage. Rob Holding scored before De Bruyne made it 3-0.
Erling Haaland sealed the win for Pep Guardiola’s men with a late goal.
Arsenal now have 75 points, only two more than City, who still have two outstanding fixtures.
“They are two points in front of us so we’re still not top.
“You have to win the games in hand. We cannot lose our focus.
“Now it’s in our hands. When it’s in our hands we have to use it,” Guardiola told BBC Sport.
