In Fulham’s 2-0 victory over West Ham, Alex Iwobi notched an assist, drawing level with Nwankwo Kanu’s Premier League assist record.
Iwobi, making his second assist of the season in 25 league appearances, played a crucial role in setting up Andreas Pereira’s goal in the 72nd minute.
The goal stemmed from a swift Fulham counter-attack, with Iwobi exchanging passes with Pereira before the latter calmly slotted the ball past the West Ham goalkeeper.
With this assist, Iwobi equals Kanu’s longstanding record for the most assists by a Nigerian player in Premier League history.
Kanu, renowned for his spells at Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion, and Portsmouth, boasts a decorated career, including Premier League, FA Cup, and Community Shield triumphs with Arsenal, as well as an FA Cup victory with Portsmouth, where he scored the winning goal in the final against Cardiff City.
