Nollywood actor and movie producer Jide Awobona has shared the inspiration behind his look for his new movie, ‘Inspector Jero’.

Taking to Instagram, Jide posted a clip of his father, who will soon turn 70, revealing that his father’s appearance over 30 years ago inspired his character’s look.

“A lion doesn’t give birth to a chicken,” Jide remarked, noting that despite his father’s age, he still looks charming, though he no longer keeps his beard. Jide praised his father for being one of his greatest fans and critics, expressing his hope to make him proud with this latest role.

LION NO DEY BORN CHICKEN …MY DAD’S LOOK OVER 30 YEARS AGO INSPIRED MY LOOK FOR ‘INSPECTOR JERO’. HE IS 70 IN A FEW MONTHS, AND HE STILL LOOKS CUTE BUT STOPPED KEEPING HIS BEARD. ONE OF MY GREAT FANS AND CRITICS, I HOPE I MAKE YOU PROUD AGAIN WITH THIS, THOUGH I KNOW YOU WILL ASK WHY I DIDN’T CUT THE BEARDS JUST EXACTLY LIKE YOURS AS I DID FOR A MOVIE SOME YEARS BACK; I JUST DIDN’T WANT IT TO BE TOO STYLISH FOR ‘INSPECTOR JERO’.”

Recently, Jide Awobona called out popular film director and screenwriter Abey Jomo for his epic transformation in ‘Inspector Jero’. Jide shared that he was put on a heavy, strict diet for his character, expressing his frustrations and questioning the tough regimen imposed on him.

Earlier this year, Jide faced a personal challenge that he overcame with great joy. He posted photos from a hospital bed, celebrating his triumph over a significant fear, despite acknowledging the difficulty of the ordeal.

In addition to his own projects, Jide Awobona has shown support for his colleagues. He defended Adanma Luke, who faced criticism over the unfortunate death of Junior Pope and others, emphasizing that such incidents could happen to anyone. Jide highlighted the pressures within Nollywood, where refusal to comply with certain expectations often leads to being labeled as difficult and unprofessional.
