Nollywood actor Jigan Babaoja has shared a heartfelt and motivational post about his journey and the lessons he’s learned from living with a disability.
Taking to Instagram, the actor recounted his childhood belief that a nurse had intentionally caused his disability by giving him a wrong injection. However, as he grew older, he realized that his life’s achievements and blessings might not have been possible without his condition.
Expressing gratitude, Jigan wrote,
When I was young, I thought the nurse who gave me the wrong injections did it intentionally, but as life went by, I began to realize if I had my two complete legs, I wouldn’t have achieved all the Lord has done for me. Mummy David, e se ti e gun mi pa. You are the best.”
He dedicated his post to those who deeply relate and vowed to continue inspiring others living with disabilities, helping them feel special and empowered.
Jigan has been vocal about his experiences, using his platform to raise awareness about disabilities.
Last year, he praised the comfortable conditions in the U.S. for disabled individuals, sharing his positive experiences using motorized shopping carts and enjoying various privileges. He noted that life overseas was more accommodating and even joked about bidding Nigeria farewell.
The actor has also taken proactive steps to educate his children about living with disabilities, aiming to equip them to handle potential stigma or trauma from classmates or peers.
In April 2023, Jigan urged individuals living with disabilities to view him as a case study, emphasizing resilience and self-confidence.
While celebrating his 40th birthday, Jigan shared an inspiring message about embracing his body and life’s challenges. Stripping to his underwear, he spoke openly about his disability to inspire others, especially young people, to embrace their uniqueness.
