The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted ₦100 million bail to Jude Okoye, former manager and elder brother of the famous music duo, Psquare, following his arraignment over an alleged ₦1.38 billion fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Jude Okoye appeared before Justice Alexander Owoeye on Monday, where the court set bail conditions requiring two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must own landed property, and Jude is prohibited from traveling outside the country during the trial.
The case stems from allegations of fund mismanagement involving the Psquare family. Last week, Kemi Filani reported that Jude was arraigned by the EFCC, sparking a public feud among the Okoye brothers. Paul Okoye, while addressing the press, accused his twin, Peter, of orchestrating Jude’s imprisonment and vowed to secure his release.
This controversy revisits lingering family tensions, with Psquare’s 2023 fallout reigniting disputes over the alleged diversion of joint funds by their elder brother. In a past interview, Paul recalled their arrest by the EFCC in December 2023, stating that he was eventually exonerated.
Peter, however, refuted these claims, accusing Paul and Jude of marginalizing him and undermining their collaboration to reclaim Psquare’s top spot in the music industry.
Jude, defending himself via Instagram Live, distanced himself from Psquare’s internal conflicts. He expressed frustration over Peter’s alleged lack of respect and questioned why he is repeatedly drawn into disputes despite being uninvolved with Psquare’s affairs for over eight years.
