The BBNaija Season 9 has come to an exciting close, with KellyRae emerging as the winner, and Wanni taking second place.
KellyRae, who was previously part of the duo DoubleKay alongside his wife Kassia, won the hearts of fans despite the duo being separated during the game. Kassia was evicted shortly after the split, following a memo from their management team asking fans to prioritize votes for KellyRae in the event of an eviction. This sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens viewing it as a case of gender bias, while others supported the strategy.
Despite rumours that interest in BBNaija had dwindled, the internet has been abuzz ever since KellyRae’s victory. Fans across social media platforms celebrated the well-deserved win, marking the season as a success.
Among the finalists were Soj, Anita, Nelly, Onyeka, Wanni, Victoria, and Ozee, with Onyeka finishing in third place. KellyRae’s prize included a cash reward of N60 million and a brand-new car worth N40 million, bringing the total prize to N100 million.
Even BBNaija Level Up housemate Chichi joined the celebrations, taking to Twitter (now known as X) to congratulate KellyRae and his wife, praising his victory as “well deserved.”
However, not everyone was thrilled with the show. Singer Portable voiced his discontent, stating that this season lacked excitement and that the participants failed to gain the level of fame typically associated with BBNaija. In his usual flamboyant style, Portable claimed that the organizers should have given him the prize money, as he would have provided a more entertaining show. Surprisingly, his take resonated with many netizens, who expressed similar sentiments in the comments.
The conclusion of BBNaija Season 9 hasn’t been without controversy either. Chichi’s congratulatory tweet appeared to stir the waters, with many speculating that it took a subtle jab at her former Level Up rival, Phyna. The two ex-friends fell out during the show, and their ongoing feud escalated when Chichi filed a N100 million lawsuit against Phyna for defamation, citing that Phyna’s comments had cost her endorsement deals and tarnished her image. Phyna, however, claimed that her outburst was provoked by Chichi’s harsh remarks, which allegedly included body-shaming and derogatory comments.
As KellyRae basks in his win, the BBNaija community remains divided, with opinions ranging from celebration to critique.
