Kemi Olunloyo defends Iyabo Ojo following fire outbreak at her office, urging Nigerians to show empathy instead of mocking the actress during her trying time.

In an unexpected move, controversial self-acclaimed journalist Kemi Olunloyo has thrown her support behind Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, after the actress revealed that her office building was engulfed by fire.

Iyabo had taken to Instagram on Wednesday morning to share a video of the incident, explaining that the fire broke out on Tuesday at about 7 p.m. She thanked the Nigerian Fire Service and her staff for their swift response, expressing gratitude that no lives were lost. In her words, “The devil tried it, but God said no.”

Reacting on Facebook, Kemi Olunloyo called out critics who were mocking Iyabo over the incident. She condemned those linking the fire to Mohbad’s death or claiming it was staged for insurance purposes, calling such remarks insensitive and baseless.

“Stop mocking Iyabo Ojo on TikTok by saying Mohbad’s spirit is strong or that she set the fire as insurance fraud to pay her debts. Have empathy,” Kemi wrote.

She advised Iyabo to install a smoke detector once the office is rebuilt and warned about the dangers of leaving gadgets plugged in, especially in a country like Nigeria where unstable electricity can trigger fire outbreaks.

“I thank God no one was inside the office when it happened. Always remember to turn off all gadgets before leaving. These things happen.”

Kemi’s message has come as a surprise to many, considering her rocky history with Iyabo. Just last month, she alleged that Iyabo’s late mother died from complications tied to paranoid schizophrenia and accused Iyabo of mistreating her.

Iyabo, in response, fired back during an Instagram live, saying Kemi would “continue to beg until she dies,” and mocked her over her life struggles and alleged lack of support from her own children.

Despite their ongoing feud, Iyabo once wrote an open letter to Kemi’s sons, showing concern and urging them to forgive their mother and support her regardless of their family’s past.

Kemi’s son later responded, stating that their love for their mother remained strong and that the claims of abandonment were spread by impersonators using a cloned account.

In 2023, Iyabo even expressed a desire to pay for Kemi’s admission to a psychiatric facility, asking the public to share her location so she could offer help.
