Veteran journalist Kemi Olunloyo has made waves once again, following her bold reaction to the passing of Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari.

The news of Buhari’s death broke on Sunday, with reports confirming that he died in London at the age of 82. But Olunloyo took to Facebook with her version of the truth, alleging that the former president was actually 89 and claiming that he’s finally joined her late father at “the Gates of Hell.”

In her post, she wrote:

“BREAKING.
Finally, Buhari and my father, Olunloyo, meet for the FIRST TIME at the Gates of Hell.
Same year, 2025.
My father never met Buhari despite being in the same political party, the APC, and ending my dad’s democracy in 1983. Buhari dying on Wole Soyinka’s birthday is a sign of FREEDOM.”

She went further, suggesting that all those unjustly detained during Buhari’s reign should be released, and the journalists executed under his military rule should continue to rest in peace.

Olunloyo also questioned Buhari’s real age, stating:

“I hope his family can now tell the world he was 89 and not 82, because he was 48, the same age as my dad in 1983 when he took over Shagari’s democracy. Only you? He was the leader of Nigeria when I was 19, 51, and 55.”

She ended her message with:

“SUN RE OOO BOO HARRY.”

Kemi Olunloyo certainly wasn’t alone. Popular street-hop singer Portable also had strong words for the late president. In a video circulating online, he accused Buhari of giving the order for the Lekki Toll Gate shooting, which took place during the #EndSARS protest in 2020.

“The man that said they should shoot our people at The Lekki Toll Gate is dead. Let us do good. May he die again in Heaven,” he said bluntly.

He emphasized that Buhari, not President Tinubu, was the one responsible for the tragic incident. The controversial singer also recalled past run-ins with political figures. Just last month, Portable said that during a chance meeting with Labour Party’s Peter Obi, he was surprised the politician didn’t give him any money—just a handshake. He noted that he was flying first class, while Obi flew economy.

In contrast, he praised President Bola Tinubu for his generosity, saying Tinubu would never have allowed him to walk away empty-handed.

Portable has also visited the Ooni of Ife and MC Oluomo in the past, expressing admiration for both men and sharing how they treated him with warmth and appreciation.
