Man Utd face potential 4-game absence of Onana

Manchester United might have to cope without Andre Onana for four upcoming matches during the winter season as expectations grow for a Cameroon national team return.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper, a recent £45 million signing from Inter, has shone in United’s initial two fixtures this campaign. Despite underwhelming team results, Onana’s impressive saves have caught the eye.

However, United’s hopes of maintaining their form might be dashed as reports from La Tanière indicate that Onana is set to rejoin the Cameroon squad for the September internationals. The player had stepped down from international duty last winter due to a dispute with the national team’s management.

Should Onana make his way back to the Cameroon setup, he’s likely to lead the team in the upcoming AFCON campaign from January 13 to February 11. This absence could potentially see him miss as many as four crucial games for Manchester United.

If Cameroon progresses well in the tournament, Onana could be absent during pivotal matches against Tottenham, Wolves, West Ham, and Aston Villa. This potential loss for United comes as Onana continues to integrate his ball-playing abilities from the back, further emphasizing his value to the team.
