Manchester United and Chelsea Eyeing Ipswich Town’s McKenna as Potential Head Coach

Manchester United and Chelsea are both eyeing Kieran McKenna, the current manager of Ipswich Town, as a potential head coach for their teams. Sky Sports News has learned that United officials have already met with representatives of McKenna, indicating serious interest from the club.

McKenna is on the shortlist for both Manchester United and Chelsea, although United is yet to finalize their decision on whether to retain Erik ten Hag as their manager for the next season.

Chelsea, who are in search of a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, have also listed McKenna alongside Thomas Frank from Brentford and Enzo Maresca from Leicester City.

The situation has become more complex with Manchester United’s approach to McKenna. If United decides to part ways with ten Hag after the FA Cup Final this weekend, McKenna could be a potential candidate to lead the team.

A loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup Final would mean no European football for Manchester United next season, adding further weight to the decision-making process.

Representatives of McKenna met with Manchester United’s new chief executive Omar Berrada and technical director Jason Wilcox last week to discuss the possibility of McKenna taking over as the head coach.

Meanwhile, ten Hag remains confident that “common sense” will prevail in the decision-making process regarding his future as the manager of Manchester United.
