Nigerian comedian, MC, and actor MC Mbakara is challenging traditional gender roles with his latest message to men, encouraging them to wash their wives’ underwear as a way of showing love and care.
Leading by example, MC Mbakara shared a video of himself washing his wife’s underwear, sparking conversations and mixed reactions online.
In the video, MC Mbakara questioned when the last time men did something as intimate as washing their wives’ clothes was, emphasizing that many men fail to understand how to be romantic or make a woman feel cherished. He advised men to buy their wives the kind of underwear they like, humorously pointing out that some women might be wearing less appealing options like “buba” as undies.
Husbands, hear me well, when last did you wash your wife’s pants or her clothes? Some of you don’t know how to be romantic or make a woman feel good. What’s there? What’s pants? It is not like you should do it every time. Just pick a few of her clothes and pants and wash them. Just wash her stuff and make her feel good. Go and buy your wife the type of pants you like because some women wear buba as pants,” he said.
The video sparked a variety of reactions from social media users:
– One user, Mimee Jay1, commented, “Mehn, mumu men don dey plenty. A finished Mumu man.”
– Freshingz_2 remarked, “Brotherhood is not proud of you.”
– Miz Bella added, “But there is nothing wrong with helping your wife out to wash her underwear. It spices up your relationship.”
– Clever Collinzz expressed skepticism, saying, “This werey is slowly running out of wisdom.”
– Inumidun countered, “There is nothing wrong in washing your woman’s undies if you love her enough. You wouldn’t find any problem helping her out.”
The conversation echoes earlier debates on similar topics. In April, Yoruba actor Adeniyi Johnson stirred the internet with a question to his followers about whether it’s normal for a man to wash his partner’s pants, and months earlier, a University lecturer, Austine Imoniche Oviosun, publicly supported the idea, noting that marriage is a partnership between two understanding individuals.
Despite the criticism, MC Mbakara remains unfazed, standing by his actions and message. He believes that small acts of love, like washing a wife’s underwear, can strengthen the bond between partners, making their relationship even more special.
