Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe is celebrating her daughter, Michelle Gentry, as she marks her 24th birthday with an emotional and praise-filled tribute.
Taking to her Instagram page, the proud mother poured her heart out, describing Michelle as her “Jesus Baby,” “vessel of the Most High,” and “womb opener.” Mercy, who has always been vocal about her love for her daughter, described Michelle as the one who changed her life by making her a mother.
“I raised a gorgeous QUEEN! Happy 24th birthday to my Jesus Baby, Vessel of the Most High, the Apple of God’s eyes, my womb opener, my first fruit, my treasure, the one who changed my name to Mother!”
She went on to reflect on how Michelle has been a light in her life from the very moment she was born, and how watching her grow has been one of her life’s greatest joys.
“From the moment you came into my life, you brought a light that continues to shine brighter every year. Watching you grow into the incredible woman you are today has been one of my greatest joys.”
Mercy praised her daughter’s strength, intelligence, kindness, and grace. She commended Michelle for the way she carries herself and the purpose with which she chases her dreams, expressing deep pride in the young woman she’s becoming.
She wrapped up her tribute with heartfelt prayers, asking for divine favour and greater blessings in her daughter’s life:
“May lines continue to fall in pleasant places for you. You will continue to be the head and not the tail. May this year bring you even more laughter, love, and moments that fill your heart.”
Michelle, who is Mercy’s first child, has always had a close bond with her mother. She recently celebrated Mercy’s AMVCA win, and during her 2023 graduation, Mercy applauded herself for raising a queen and revealed three hidden qualities about her daughter, assuring her of unwavering support.
In an emotional throwback, Mercy once opened up at the premiere of her movie My Mother Is A Witch, recounting how a past incident—where she mistakenly hit Michelle with a bucket—left her traumatised. The actress used the moment to encourage parents to be more open and have real conversations with their children.
