In an Instagram post, Omowunmi, wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, shared an emotional tribute to mark the one-year remembrance of her husband’s passing.
Mohbad, who passed away unexpectedly last year, left behind his wife and their son, Liam.
Omowunmi expressed the deep pain and heartache she has experienced since his death, describing it as an unbearable void that has left her struggling to move forward. She also acknowledged how his passing has shaped her life, revealing that each day has been a challenge without him.
In her tribute, she wrote:
“Ilerioluwa mi, Husband of my youth, my best friend! It’s been a year today since you left me and our Liam in this cold world. It’s been so hard. I miss you so much. Liam misses you too… I still don’t know how I’ve survived without you… Your passing brought me unbearable pain, but it has also shaped me. I’ve learned so much, and I’m still learning.”
Omowunmi shared how she continues to see pieces of Mohbad in their son, Liam, and is committed to raising him with the same love and care her husband would have provided. She promised to keep Mohbad’s memory alive as she navigates life without him.
“Every day, I see pieces of you in him—your kindness, your smile, your spirit. I promise to raise him with the same love and care you would have given him, keeping your memory alive in every step of his life.”
While the pain of losing her husband remains heavy, Omowunmi chose to celebrate Mohbad’s life and legacy on this difficult day. She expressed gratitude for the time they shared, especially for the gift of their son, Liam.
“Today, I choose to celebrate you. Today, I choose to honor your legacy. Today, I choose to give all glory to God for blessing me with you, Ilerioluwa… I love you so much. Thank you for Liam—I’m forever grateful for the gift of him! Fly high with the angels, love of my life.”
Earlier this year, during her birthday in April, Omowunmi made a special request, asking Nigerians to honour her late husband instead of celebrating her. She expressed that this was the first time in many years she had to mark her birthday without him, emphasizing how Mohbad was not only her husband but also her best friend, confidant, and partner in everything.
