Nollywood star Muyiwa Ademola has called on Nigerians to rally behind him as he gears up for the cinema release of his long-awaited movie sequel, Ori Reloaded, set to debut in April.
Renowned for the success of the original Ori released two decades ago, Muyiwa shared his journey in an interview, revealing that the project cost over ₦400 million. He passionately appealed for audience support, emphasizing the need to recoup his investment and make a profit.
I have spent millions, like over N400 million, investing in my new movie. You will love it and enjoy it. I need to make back my money. I need profit. If you watched the first Ori and didn’t enjoy it, don’t watch this one,” he remarked.
The veteran actor first announced the sequel in 2023, describing it as a philosophical adventure akin to its 2003 predecessor. Ori Reloaded promises a cinematic experience that honors the essence of the original while delivering fresh storytelling.
Muyiwa’s appeal mirrors that of fellow actor Femi Adebayo, who disclosed last year that he sold his properties to fund his acclaimed film Jagun Jagun. Femi’s dedication to self-funding inspired many in the industry to pursue their dreams without external financial assistance.
Actress Rukayat Lawal, fondly known as Iyabadan Sneh, has also expressed her gratitude to Muyiwa for giving her a unique opportunity in Ori Reloaded, calling him her all-time favorite colleague.
