Nigerian musician Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has publicly called on the Lagos State Police Command to intensify and restart the investigation into the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Speaking in a video broadcast on his YouTube channel, Marley maintained his complete innocence regarding the singer’s passing but urged authorities to re-arrest him, his associate Samson Balogun (Sam Larry), and all other individuals previously accused of involvement.

Marley stated that he returned to Nigeria specifically to assist the police investigation, acknowledging the public suspicion directed towards him. He revealed that he was previously detained for two months at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti and claimed his passport was withheld. While expressing a willingness to be questioned, he criticised his prolonged detention, emphasising that he had not seen Mohbad for over a year before his death. He alleged a conspiracy to keep him incarcerated and even mentioned that a leaked group chat referenced the name of the officer originally in charge of the case.

The artist demanded that a trustworthy officer be appointed to lead a renewed and transparent investigation. In a separate gesture, Marley also announced that he has agreed with Mohbad’s lawyer to redirect all royalties owed to the late singer to whichever family member the court appoints to manage his estate. Mohbad died under controversial circumstances in September 2023, leading to the initial arrest and subsequent release on bail of Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and the singer’s childhood friend, Owodunni Ibrahim (Prime Boy).
