Nollywood has been thrown into mourning once again as actress Ngozi Ezeonu expressed grief over the passing of her colleague, Nkechi Nweje. The actress reportedly passed away after a brief illness, leaving the film industry in shock.
Taking to Instagram, Ngozi Ezeonu revealed her heartbreak, stating she was unaware of Nkechi’s illness. She described Nweje as one of the nicest people she had ever met and lamented never seeing her signature smile again.
It is so difficult to believe you are gone, ezigbo nwanyi Onicha. I never knew you were ill. So I will never see your ever-smiling face again. Nkechi, you were one of the nicest people I met in Nollywood. This is indeed a big blow. Go well, my beautiful sister,” she wrote.
Nkechi Nweje’s death adds to the list of tragic losses the industry has faced. Recently, the passing of Columbus Irisoanga, Stella Ikwuegbu, Zulu Adigwe, and others has left Nollywood grieving. Last year, the deaths of stars like Onyeka Onwenu, Junior Pope, Amaechi Muonagor, and Mr. Ibu shook the entertainment world.
Each loss reminds fans and colleagues alike of the fragility of life and the legacy these icons leave behind.
