Nigerian comedian Dami Olakunle, known as Aphrican Ace, is facing a heartbreaking loss after the passing of his pre-term baby. In an emotional Instagram post, he shared the details of his son’s brief life and the pain of his loss.
Aphrican Ace revealed that his son, Zion Ayomikun Blue Olatunde, was born prematurely at 26 weeks on July 2nd, despite being due in October. Although his son showed promising signs of improvement, a bacterial infection on July 28th led to a series of complications. Despite the family’s hope and optimism, Zion passed away early on August 1st, with his parents by his side.
In his post, Aphrican Ace described the profound pain of losing his son and the rapid shift from planning for his return home to making funeral arrangements. He expressed his love for his son and faith in God’s plan, despite the heartache.
Following the news, many Nollywood stars offered their condolences and support:
– Rita Dominic: “So sorry. Please accept my condolences.”
– Omoni Oboli: “May He comfort you how only He can. You are in our prayers.”
– Mary Akpobome: “I pray for comfort and strength for you and your family.”
– Teddy A: “Deepest condolences brother, my prayers are with you and your family.”
– Allwell Ademola: “It is well bro.”
Aphrican Ace’s experience resonates with other public figures who have shared their own pregnancy losses. Last year, Debbie Shokoya emotionally recounted losing her pregnancy at eight months, highlighting the emotional toll of such losses. Toyin Abraham also opened up about her pregnancy loss and the challenges she faced, including body-shaming.
