Nkechi Blessing, a Nollywood actress, has publicly apologized to the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
During an award ceremony in Canada, Nkechi knelt in humility, acknowledging past mistakes and seeking forgiveness from TAMPAN’s leaders, expressing hope that her ban from the industry would be lifted. She later reiterated her apology on Instagram, sharing how introspection and spiritual growth have led her to this moment of reconciliation.
Nkechi reflected on her growth journey, admitting, “The things I know now, I wish I knew earlier,” adding that she’s grateful for God’s guidance in her personal transformation. Notable TAMPAN leaders, including Jide Kosoko and Dele Odule, responded warmly to Nkechi’s apology.
Kosoko clarified that there was never any formal action taken to exclude her from Nollywood, referring to her as a “daughter” and praying for her continued success. Dele Odule commended Nkechi’s maturity, and other industry icons, such as Mr. Latin and Yinka Quadri, welcomed her back warmly.
In 2021, Nkechi Blessing and Iyabo Ojo publicly condemned actor Baba Ijesha for allegedly defiling the foster daughter of Nigerian comedienne Princess. Their stance led to conflicts with TAMPAN members who disagreed with their approach. TAMPAN executive Jide Kosoko subsequently barred association directors from collaborating with the two actresses. Nkechi responded critically, calling TAMPAN a “lawless” body and challenging their attempts to marginalize her.
