Nigerian entrepreneur Obi Cubana has taken to social media to showcase a proud moment for his hotel, The Delborough, after hosting esteemed guests, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle.
Sharing a video of the royal couple’s visit on his Instagram page, Obi Cubana expressed his pride in his hotel’s achievement, declaring it the number one luxury hotel in Africa following their stay.
In his post, Obi Cubana highlighted the significance of hosting such prestigious guests, emphasizing the hotel’s status as a leading destination for luxury accommodation on the continent. He credited his colleague, Stanley Uzochukwu, for the success of The Delborough, acknowledging his contribution with admiration.
The visit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Nigeria marked their first official visit to Africa’s most populous nation. The royal couple’s itinerary included discussions surrounding Nigeria’s potential to host the Invictus Games, a cause championed by Prince Harry.
Prince Harry and Meghan arrived in Nigeria on May 10 and concluded their three-day visit with a stop in Lagos on May 12, where they were warmly welcomed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Obi Cubana’s journey to success has been marked by resilience and generosity. Recounting his struggles during his convocation at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), he shared a personal anecdote of overcoming adversity, highlighting the loss of a cherished gift from his uncle. Despite setbacks, Obi Cubana’s determination propelled him to philanthropic endeavours, including gifting former classmates and supporting underprivileged individuals like Ekuma Jeremiah, a viral pure water hawker, whom he provided with a scholarship.
His philanthropic contributions, coupled with his business acumen, garnered him recognition, culminating in a Doctorate in Business Administration from Enugu State University. Recently, Obi Cubana celebrated the fulfillment of his core values by attending UNN’s 50th Convocation ceremony, reflecting on his journey from adversity to success.
