Charles Oputa, the famous Nigerian entertainer, a.k.a Charly Boy has claimed that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has set September 16 as the deadline for ruling on the petitions contesting President Bola Tinubu’s election.

The Constitution gives the Tribunal until September 16, 2023 (a maximum of 180 days after the filing of the petitions) to rule on the petitions, notwithstanding the fact that we are unable to determine the date with certainty.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party’s (LP) Peter Obi both filed petitions requesting that Tinubu be sacked on several charges. The petitions were submitted on February 25.

In a tweet on his official X account, Charly Boy advised Peter Obi’s followers, known as Obidients, to brace themselves for the verdict.

According to the post:

“Tribunal (PEPT) has announced that the judgment date for the cases involving Peter Obi and the Labour Party against Bola Tinubu, INEC, Shettima, and APC, as well as the PDP’s case of Atiku against APC, INEC, and Tinubu, is scheduled for September 16, 2023.”
