The Adelami political movement has been disbanded in favour of Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the state’s governorship elections later this year.

The movement, which has over 8,000 members, has been renamed as the Aiyedatiwa/Adelami Grassroots Mobilisers, and its members are scattered across Ondo State’s 18 local government areas.

The Adelami political movement was originally linked with Olayide Adelami, Ondo State’s current deputy governor, who ran in the 2020 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary.

The group’s Director-General, Segun Ogodo, accompanied its leaders to the deputy governor’s office in Akure to announce the decision.

Ogodo explained that the decision to collapse their structure for Aiyedatiwa derived from the belief that only the governor could carry the state to the next level.

He commended the deputy governor as a loyal party member who helped the APC win the Ondo State gubernatorial election in 2020.
