Media personality and critic Oriretan Honour has stirred controversy with his recent comments directed at Nollywood actress Annie Idibia, addressing her ongoing public display of affection and insecurities about her marriage to the renowned singer 2baba.
Honour’s remarks, posted in the comment section of a social media post, criticized Annie for what he perceives as an unhealthy fixation on her husband and an excess of public validation.
In his message, Honour suggested that Annie’s frequent emphasis on her relationship with 2baba was unwise, arguing that her constant need to assert her place in his life publicly is both unnecessary and a sign of lingering insecurities. He admonished Annie to reduce the public display of her attachment to 2baba and allow him more space. According to Honour, men generally dislike being caught up in love dramas and such actions could reflect poorly on one’s self-esteem.
Annie Idibia, it’s unwise always carrying 2face on your head every time, knowing nobody is in competition with you. More unwise how I’d have outgrown these insecurity dramas by now, but I’ve not. Most unwise how you’re always at the forefront trying to tell the public (especially girls) that you’re not in 2baba’s life already, not knowing it looks odd. Limit the excess attachments and flaunting & let 2baba have space a bit. Men don’t like being shocked with love dramas. Keep your family off media. Avoid being insecure, as it is a sign of low self-esteem. Keep praying for 2face for self-control and discipline, not outsiders. Think smart. He wise, don’t be unwise,” Honour wrote.
This critique follows a period where Annie Idibia has publicly expressed her deep affection for 2baba. Recently, Annie took to social media to share a heartfelt tribute to her husband, calling him her “home,” “rest,” and “safe place.” She has also praised him as her support system and best friend.
The public display of their relationship has been a recurring theme for Annie, particularly in light of past controversies. Last year, Annie openly addressed the marital drama that nearly led to a divorce in 2021, which stemmed from her accusations that 2baba’s second baby mama, Pero Adeniyi, was still involved with him. Despite the turbulence, the couple managed to reconcile, and 2baba later issued a public apology, denouncing his role model status.
Honour’s comments suggest that while Annie’s public declarations of love are passionate, he believes they may stem from a deeper insecurity that could be better addressed privately rather than in the media.
