Nigerian media mogul Patrick Doyle has opened up about his divorce from his ex-wife, Ireti Doyle, in an interview with Olumide Iyanda, the publisher of QED.NG.
Despite the unpleasant outcome of their marriage, Patrick harbours no ill feelings towards Ireti. Addressing a past post where he praised his mother, sisters, and late wife, he clarified that it wasn’t a shade to Ireti but a tribute to those who positively impacted his life. He questioned why people expected him to remember his time with her fondly when it wasn’t pleasant.
Praising Ireti, he described her as a first-class provider and an exceptional mother to their children. He highlighted her dedication to their daughter, emphasizing the 360-degree care she provides.
As she told you, she was happiest with me. If I am not true to myself, then I am an agbaya. My mother, my sisters, and my late wife – that isn’t a shade to anybody; they impacted me in a positive way. When something didn’t make me happy, why should I remember that fondly? The outcome of our marriage wasn’t pleasant. So why should I lie? We are very cordial now. Ireti is a first-class provider and a mother to her children. She is taking fantastic care of my daughter. How can I wish her ill? As far as mothers go, they don’t come any better. She provides 360 mothering care.”
Patrick and Ireti married in 2004, and their divorce was confirmed by the actress in 2023. Ireti officially announced the divorce on social media, stating she would keep her ex-husband’s name to maintain her brand identity.
Patrick has moved on and is now married to media personality Funmi Iyanda. News of his new relationship surfaced in January 2023, with Instagram blogger Cutie Julls sharing a photo of the couple at their registry wedding. Patrick later confirmed the marriage and praised his new wife during Mother’s Day, appreciating the four women who have significantly impacted his life: his late mother, late sisters, late wife, and new wife.
In recent statements, Patrick has expressed his happiness in his new marriage, noting how his wife has been a mother, friend, and partner to him. He also praised her cooking skills, stating that no one has prepared better meals for him since his sweetheart.
