Paul Okoye Says One Becomes a Bad Person When They Stop Giving

Paul Okoye says one becomes a bad person the moment they stop giving, as he reflects on the painful reality of entitlement and ungratefulness.

The Nigerian music star, popularly known as Rudeboy, shared a personal message via his Instagram story, revealing how quickly people can switch up once their expectations are no longer met.

“Sometimes in life, eh!
The people wey you dey suffer for and carry cross for no go send you, until you stop giving them.
Then you will become a bad person.”

The singer lamented how people often show no loyalty to those who go out of their way to support them—until the help stops.

This isn’t the first time Paul has addressed the issue of entitlement. Last year, he called out what he described as one of this generation’s biggest problems—self-entitlement. In a direct message to those who constantly expect handouts, he warned that their mindset would only lead them to hunger and hardship.

In another instance, Rudeboy publicly expressed his disappointment after being insulted by a woman he had once helped with her daughter’s blood transfusion. According to him, the woman reminded him he would eventually die and leave his wealth behind. Deeply pained by the incident, the singer hinted that he might have to start setting firmer boundaries.

This same topic has been echoed by other Nigerian celebrities. Comedian-turned-clergyman Woli Arole recently urged Nigerians to show empathy to those living and working abroad, stating that they are often overstretched and can’t send money home constantly. He encouraged people to be grateful for the little they receive and to pray for their loved ones instead of placing demands.

Actor Seun Sean Jimoh also appealed to Nigerians to stop pressuring their friends and family in the diaspora. He reminded them that even “helpers need help” and advised against mentally calculating how much others should be able to give based on their location or income.
