Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has branded Lionel Messi as the greatest player in the world ahead of the Argentine’s Inter Miami debut later this month. Messi announced in June that he would sign a free transfer to play for the Major League Soccer (MLS) team.
The 36-year-old is anticipated to play his first game for Inter Miami on July 21 against Cruz Azul.
Al-Khelaifi praised Messi at a press conference on Wednesday in France, calling the former Barcelona captain brilliant.
Al-Khelaifi said,
“I want to thank [Lionel] Messi, the greatest player in the world, for what he has done for us.
“He was magnificent. The two years were wonderful.”
Messi joined PSG from Barcelona two years ago as a free agent.
