Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodi has praised Iyabo Ojo for showing maturity and devotion as a mother by including her ex-husband in their daughter Priscilla’s wedding.
In a heartfelt interview on Oyinmomo TV, Ronke shared her admiration for Iyabo, recounting how the actress always prioritized her children while they were growing up. Ronke expressed how much she respects Iyabo and even learned valuable lessons from her, particularly in regard to co-parenting and maintaining harmony for the sake of children.
“I give kudos to Iyabo Ojo. When Priscilla and her brother were young, she always went everywhere with them. She is a devoted mother. I now respect her more when I saw Priscilla’s Dad at the wedding. I also learnt a lesson from her.”
Ronke emphasized that Iyabo’s decision to involve Priscilla’s father in the wedding was admirable, adding that it reflected a mature and respectful approach to co-parenting, despite the end of their marriage.
Ronke also shared her perspective on the controversial situation involving Tope Alabi, whose daughter’s wedding saw the absence of her father. While acknowledging that the absence may have sparked negative reactions, Ronke suggested that the bride, as an adult, may have been the one to make the decision to exclude her father from the event.
“Don’t let us blame Tope Alabi for not allowing the father of her daughter to be present at her wedding. The girl is 27 years old, maybe she was the one who didn’t want to see her dad. She is an adult. If she really wanted her dad, she would have insisted to her mum. I am not supporting what Tope did, but let us take it easy on her. I am sure Priscilla wanted her dad to be at the wedding, that was why you all saw him.”
The presence of Iyabo Ojo’s ex-husband at Priscilla’s traditional and white wedding was significant and drew praise from many fans, especially since there had been speculation about his absence during the introduction and Nikka ceremony in Tanzania. The rumors centered around the idea that he wasn’t invited due to his alleged estranged relationship with his children. However, Iyabo’s public display of unity at the wedding proved those speculations wrong and earned her further respect for her graceful handling of the situation.
Iyabo Ojo was previously married to Mr. Ademidun Ojo, the father of her two children. However, their marriage ended shortly after the birth of their kids. Reflecting on this period, Iyabo shared in a podcast interview how she experienced poverty for the first time during her marriage, which she described as an adventure. She confessed that she had craved attention, which her then-husband provided at the time.
Unlike Iyabo’s balanced approach to her ex-husband’s presence at the wedding, Tope Alabi’s daughter faced a more challenging situation at her wedding. Tope’s daughter even expressed her frustration with her father, alluding to a troubled relationship between them.
