Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has called out a follower who tried to shame her over her marital status. In a post shared on Instagram, Sarah questioned why women resort to marriage shaming, especially when they should be supporting one another.
The actress shared a screenshot of a comment from a female follower who referred to her as “old woman” and urged her to get married. Reacting to the comment, Sarah expressed her disappointment at the trend of women belittling others based on marital status.
“Why do women marriage shame women?” Sarah wrote, adding that she was on set working hard when the comment appeared. Instead of reacting impulsively, she took a moment to visit the troll’s page before blocking her, humorously describing the individual as “ikwikwi in human form.”
She ended her post with a message for her gender: “Women, we can do better.”
This isn’t the first time Sarah Martins has stood her ground against critics. Last year, the actress clapped back at a male colleague who sexualized her after watching a scene she acted. Sarah condemned his behavior, emphasizing the importance of respect in professional spaces.
In another instance, Sarah addressed allegations from a married woman who suspected her of being her husband’s side chick. Dismissing the claims, Sarah boldly revealed that the woman’s husband was gay, shedding light on the baselessness of the accusations.
Sarah Martins has consistently used her platform to advocate for respect, whether addressing public criticism or recounting personal encounters. In March, she shared how she confronted a married man who approached her inappropriately, even going as far as slapping him to assert her boundaries.
