Shaffy Bello speaks on fantasizing about RMD, reflecting on how a youthful dream of sharing the screen with the iconic actor has now become her reality.
In a touching birthday message to veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Shaffy opened up about how she used to daydream about acting alongside him while she was still living in the United States. She described how the Universe gave her far more than she imagined, calling the opportunity to work closely with him a dream come true.
“My dear LEGENDARY PAPA BEAR
Oko Oremi ABEKE @mofedamijo
I remember while living in the States, hoping and fantasising that one day I’ll share the screen with you.
You both would come visit the States while ABEKE was still childbearing and building.
Look at us now! Look at me now!
The Universe gave me more than my fantasy could contain.
Keep teaching us … and for those who care to watch, keep showing us. We are watching.
Happy Birthday, King.”
Her heartfelt message stirred admiration across social media, as fans praised her humility and growth in the industry.
Years ago, Shaffy publicly appreciated Mo Abudu for believing in her and giving her a shot in the film industry when many doubted her transition into Nollywood. That opportunity, she said, opened doors that led to her becoming one of the most admired actresses of her time.
In an emotional interview with Chude Jideonwo, Shaffy also spoke candidly about the personal sacrifices she made for her career. She revealed that she left her husband and children in the U.S. more than a decade ago to pursue a new life and career in Nigeria. Though the journey was tough, she admitted she yearned for more out of life and has now found purpose, even if the price was high.
Outside acting, Shaffy isn’t afraid to share her thoughts on hot-button topics. During the ongoing debate on what women bring to the table in relationships, she urged women to stop feeling attacked by the question. According to her, men are more drawn to women who don’t appear too dependent. “Don’t be too needy,” she advised, “It makes you less attractive.”
