Nigerian singer Skales has joined the growing number of celebrities calling out airlines in the country. In a recent outburst on Instagram, the musician slammed Green Africa Airlines after a scheduled flight to Akure was canceled due to the pilot’s illness.

The cancellation left him unable to perform at a high-paying gig, costing him a staggering ₦15 million.

According to Skales, he arrived at the airport well before the flight’s scheduled take-off time and checked in at the Green Africa Airlines desk. Despite following all procedures, passengers were informed at the last minute that the flight was canceled because the pilot was unwell. Skales expressed his frustration, explaining that he had been paid ₦15 million to perform in Akure, a gig arranged by celebrity designer Seyi Vodi.

In the video shared on Instagram, Skales can be seen angrily confronting the airline’s staff, who had no substantial response to offer regarding the inconvenience caused.

Following Skales’ rant, social media users flooded the comments with their own negative experiences with Nigerian airlines. Several people suggested alternative solutions, questioning why Skales didn’t explore other travel options to ensure he didn’t miss his event.

One commenter wrote, “With 15m, you can’t get another flight or rent a car with an escort? Even if I spend 5m to get there, I won’t miss that show!” Another user said, “Traveling by road would get you to your destination faster than most domestic airlines, if not for security concerns!”

Despite the backlash against Green Africa Airlines, some netizens also questioned Skales’ decision to fly on the day of the event, with one person commenting, “Why didn’t you travel the night before the event?”

Skales’ situation is not unique. His complaint adds to the growing dissatisfaction with Nigerian airlines, which have become notorious for frequent delays, cancellations, and customer service issues. Many users in the comments mentioned their own frustrating experiences with both Green Africa Airlines and other domestic airlines, such as Aero.
