Nigerian music producer Skales has reacted to the recent death of an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officer during a raid on an alleged internet fraudster’s residence in Anambra.

The news of the officer’s death was first reported by Kemi Filani, revealing that the official was shot during the operation. Reacting via a series of tweets, Skales expressed mixed emotions, recalling a harrowing encounter his family had with EFCC operatives in October 2023.

The producer shared that EFCC officers stormed his residence without warning, armed with guns, and caused significant trauma to his family. He recounted how his mother, out of fear during the raid, accidentally dropped his six-month-old daughter, severely injuring the infant. The incident left a lasting impact on his family.

“It’s quite unfortunate that someone lost his life, but they had it coming. Imagine the trauma I and my family still face till now. I should be feeling bad, but I actually don’t. They had it coming.”

Skales continued, describing how the EFCC operatives allegedly broke into his home without identifying themselves, causing terror and confusion:

“When they came to my house, they didn’t ask, they didn’t knock. They just broke the door, and I’m not a fraudster. My whole family was there with me, including my newborn. Imagine waking up to 4 AK-47s and 3 sledgehammers—like a horror movie—all because they saw luxurious cars in front of my house.”

He added that the EFCC officers communicated in Hausa during the raid, believing he wouldn’t understand, only for him to respond fluently in the language, causing them visible discomfort.

When a Twitter user tried defending the commission, Skales stood firm in his stance:

“They are not good. They are evil people. I will never forgive them.”

The traumatic event forced Skales to relocate his family temporarily to a hotel and stay with a friend for three days. Reflecting on the officer’s death, he unapologetically expressed satisfaction, stating that the EFCC’s misconduct had warranted repercussions.
