British rapper and music producer Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., popularly known as Skepta, has humorously reacted to Nigerian singer Portable’s penchant for publicly calling out his collaborators.
Portable, known for his controversial behavior, has targeted big names like Asake, Davido, Olamide, and Poco Lee, often criticizing them after their collaborations. Most recently, he dragged Asake over his Grammy loss, accusing Olamide of prioritizing Asake’s career over his own.
In response to the drama, Skepta, who has been trending on Twitter, shared a lighthearted reaction:
Why am I trending? Lol. I’ve just seen Portable dragging somebody again. Apparently, I’m next. We dey wait lol.”
Despite Portable’s antics, Skepta has previously expressed admiration for the Nigerian artist’s energy and hustle. In January, he praised Portable in a series of tweets, describing him as a refreshing presence in an industry filled with fake personalities. He acknowledged Portable’s relentless drive to stay relevant through his unconventional methods, including dropping frequent snippets, making public stunts, and more.
While Skepta admitted that he doesn’t follow Portable’s tactics, he recognized the raw energy and determination behind the singer’s approach.
Skepta and Portable teamed up on the hit track “Tony Montana”, which earned significant acclaim. Portable later revealed that Skepta ensured he received his royalties, commending the rapper for his fairness and transparency.
This bond between the two artists was further solidified when Portable attended the British Fashion Awards in December 2023 with Skepta, where they rubbed shoulders with celebrities like Tiwa Savage and Damson Idris.
Following his association with Skepta and their hit song, Portable declared a significant increase in his charges. He announced that he now demands $10,000 for features in shows, music videos, and skits, emphasizing his “child of grace” status.
