Sonia Adesuwa, the ex-wife of Nigerian footballer Jude Ighalo, has sparked controversy after mocking him for his recent video about paying 10% tithe to his church.
In a now-deleted Instagram story, Sonia called out Ighalo, accusing him of misleading his fans. She alleged that his elder sister sells garri and tomatoes in a kiosk, while his other siblings and their families reportedly live in his home without substantial means of livelihood. Sonia vowed to continue exposing him, accusing the footballer of paying bloggers to tarnish her image.
This boy is insane! Deceiving gullible followers while his family struggles. His siblings live off him, contributing nothing to society,” Sonia wrote. She further questioned his dedication to paying tithe to pastors when, according to her, his family’s welfare remains unmet.
Sonia and Jude Ighalo were married for nearly a decade before separating in 2020. Their split has been marked by public spats, with Sonia often taking jabs at him online. In 2023, Sonia disclosed that their relationship ended multiple times, citing family interference as one of the reasons.
Despite their differences, Sonia once apologized publicly to Jude, admitting their efforts to make the marriage work even after their separation. However, her latest comments signal a reignition of their ongoing feud.
