The Cross River State Government stated on Thursday that Lassa fever had broken out in the Ejah Community in Osupong Ward 1, Obubura Local Government Area.
The number of Lassa fever deaths in Nigeria has risen to 142 so far this year. This is the statistics according to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control and Prevention. In its Week 11 Lassa Fever Situation Report
According to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), 676 cases of Lassa fever were recorded in nine weeks. However, one hundred and nine deaths have been reported since January from 22 states and 89 local governments.
The Ondo government has begun the distribution of pesticides to eradicate rats as part of efforts to stem the scourge of deadly Lassa fever in the state, aiding the state’s fight against the epidemic disease.
