The Federal Executive Council presided over by President Bola Tinubu, approved N9.8 billion in renewal fees for the Group Life Assurance for Federal Government workers on Wednesday.

Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, stated this following Wednesday’s FEC meeting.

He informed State House reporters that the permission followed a note provided by the Federation’s Civil Service Head, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan.

The President approved around N9.6 billion for 12 local insurance businesses to protect government employees in the event of unforeseen circumstances while doing their jobs.

“There are perhaps twelve insurance firms engaged. Workers are provided with regular yearly coverage by insurance providers.

Idris said:

“There are about 12 insurance companies involved. It’s a regular annual cover that insurance companies give workers.

“So, in the event of death or severe injury, they can resort to and so that their families would not have to suffer.”
